"PUC Schools Deliver Education"Mission
Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low achieving schools. We create school programs and cultures that result in college graduation for all students. We focus on developing secondary schools partnered with strong feeder elementary programs. We uplift and revitalize communities through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.
Profile
Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) is an independent, non-profit charter management organization established in 2003 that builds and operates high performance public charter schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Our schools feature a rigorous college-preparatory program of study beginning in sixth grade that includes enrolment in college classes by the senior year in high school. Each school is characterized by a strong college-going culture.
The distinctive design principals of PUC schools include:
• High expectations: Every student is expected to graduate from high school and to be prepared for college success.
• Personalized Learning: We provide smaller schools and classes with no more than 80 students per grade and 25 students per class, personalized learning plans, tutoring, enrichment classes and more to ensure that every student’s needs are addressed in a personalized manner.
• Rigorous and Relevant Curriculum: Curriculum and instruction are interdisciplinary, integrated, and project-based. Curriculum focuses on preparing students to enter and succeed at a college or university and integrates core subject areas as well as the arts and technology.
• Students are Nurtured for Leadership in Today's World: Students work in teams, assume leadership roles, develop respect and appreciation for diversity, and give back to the school and broader community through service learning.
• Explicit Student Learning Outcomes and On-going Assessment: Learning outcomes are clearly stated and understood; assessments are varied and continuous.
• United School Community: Students, staff, parents, and community members all work together to achieve our school-wide goals.
Results
PUC was founded on a belief that superior schools build superior communities. PUC schools are proven high performers – consistently outperforming non-charter public schools in the same neighbourhoods.
To ensure and assess the progress of our students, we measure high schools graduation and college acceptance and success rates, internal and nationally normed assessment in core academic areas, as well state standards through state mandated exams.
