Halstrom High School

"Experience the One-to-One Difference"

Mission

Halstrom High School® promotes academic success, builds positive self-concepts, and encourages appreciation for learning through personalized instruction in a caring environment.

Profile

Learning is a personal, life-long experience. Optimum learning occurs when the learner actively participates in the process. Instruction focuses on the learner's skills, interests, needs, and rate of progress. Students and instructors work together "One-to-one" to achieve learning expectations and personalized goals. The instructor develops a mentor relationship with the student. The intense interaction increases the student's responsibility in the learning process. The self-discipline required to work independently transfers successfully to college and a wide range of careers.

Halstrom students become responsible, self-directed learners. They are students who want to take responsibility for their education. From gifted to remedial, all students find success. Halstrom students are motivated to succeed on their own terms.

Results

We are committed to providing individualized instruction to assist each student with improving grades, raising test scores, improving study skills, and ensuring academic success. With one-to-one instruction parents can rest assured that their child will succeed, and students will find motivation for learning, and the confidence and skills to succeed.

Our educational program is based on student mastery. At the college prep level students must maintain 80% or better for each assignment. All other students must maintain a 70% or better for each assignment. If a student is not able to demonstrate minimum mastery, the teacher will re-teach and reassign before moving on to the next assignment.
