Fundación Coanil

Mission

Coanil is a private and non-profit foundation where we welcome and educate children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the country. Through our centers, we provide the tools to integrate our students into a society in which they are also actors. Our main goal is to stimulate the full potential of each of the individuals who attend our centers and thus facilitate a qualitative leap in their quality of life and self-worth.

Profile

Through its educational program, Fundación Coanil seeks to respond to the learning needs of persons with intellectual disabilities. To ensure they receive the attention they need, we offer 27 free schools, open to the entire community, all approved by the Ministry of Education, based in principals of equality and fairness, and offering the same opportunities to all while recognizing that each person has their own needs and the right to respect for their personal characteristics.

Our schools aim to place the means, materials, methodologies, curricula and professionals necessary to facilitate their evolution towards personal independence and social integration within reach. To ensure the complete development of the students attended in our schools, we boast a professional team comprised of specialist teachers, kinesiologists, social workers, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and classroom assistants.

Results

Our principal measure of success is the number of students who successfully graduate and are reintegrated into society.
