Challenger School

"Scientia, Opus, Virtus (Knowledge, Work, Responsibility)"

Mission

At Challenger School, our Mission is to prepare children to become self-reliant, productive individuals; to teach them to think, speak, and write with clarity, precision, and independence; and to inspire them to embrace challenge and find joy and self-worth through achievement.

Profile

Challenger’s curriculum and proven teaching methods provide the skills each student needs to excel. As students learn foundational concepts and apply reasoning skills, the results are spectacular.

Education is so much more than a good classroom environment, adequate school supplies, fun playgrounds, and a nice teacher. Challenger School’s educational philosophy (why we do what we do) and methods (how we do what we do) are what set us apart from other schools.

Challenger helps children become individuals led by neither peer pressure nor common sentiment, but by the strength of their own thinking. We begin by building a foundation. Mastery of the three foundation disciplines, reading, composition, and math expands a student’s potential for learning in all other subjects.

As we teach, we lead the students to deduce the hierarchy of concepts and to integrate concepts within and across subjects. Students learn to question before validating the new connections that will eventually improve their understanding and reasoning skills. Discovering, validating, and verbalizing these concepts in their own words with clarity and precision is what enables students to retain their knowledge and then to apply and extend that knowledge.

Celebrating its 45th Anniversary, Challenger School now has more than 20 campuses in four Western states offering preschool through 8th grade. For a location near you, visit ChallengerSchool.com.

Results

Challenger students achieve scores on average in the 90th percentile on the national Stanford Achievement Test (SAT). This means that our average student outperforms nine out of ten students who take that test.

Our students also regularly participate in and win many local, state, and national contests in composition, math, and science.
